Synth Stamp celebrates vintage hardware with faithful reproductions of two classic instruments. The 5001 Analog Synthesizer delivers semi-modular monophonic patching with a stereo preamp, based on the ARP 2600, while the B500 Sampling Keyboard offers 4-voice polyphony, multi-channel note memory, and continuous live sampling that turns everyday sounds into otherworldly textures, based on the Casio SK-1. Stereo input routes external audio straight through the engines for instant processing.
The circuit-bent SK-1 mode introduces bendable quirks that open up sampling results you cannot get from the original hardware — the bent behaviour interacts differently with each input, which makes it a useful source of unexpected textures. The ARP-inspired patching is responsive and covers substantial depth, though compact controls are a bit fiddly and require frequent use if the built-in zoom slider. Some UI redesign would be welcome. Preset export and import keep patches synced across standalone and AUv3 sessions, so ideas started on iPhone transfer to iPad or Mac without extra steps.
The app balances nostalgia with modern workflow. Programmable MIDI control maps up to eight knobs and four switches per preset, while the multi-faceted toolbar handles settings, audio input selection, and quick preset management. It works as an AUv3 plugin inside AUM and other compatible hosts, as either an instrument with mono sidechain or a music effect on stereo and mono tracks.
