The Yamaha SEQTRAK received a major firmware update to OS v2.0 on January 14, 2026, introducing new track types such as DrumKit for consolidating up to seven drum sounds into a single track and Synth for expanded AWM2-based synthesis, allowing greater flexibility in sound design and arrangement. The update also extends BARLENGTH control to Drum Tracks for consistent phrase editing across projects, while global controls have been refined for faster parameter adjustments during creative sessions. The companion SEQTRAK app was simultaneously updated to version 2.0, adding comprehensive backup functionality and improved sound management tools to safeguard projects and facilitate easier portability. These enhancements, installable via Bluetooth or USB from iOS devices, minimize workflow disruptions and bolster the device’s reliability for on-the-go production. No further updates have been released as of January 31, 2026, but these changes significantly improve integration with mobile setups, ensuring smoother synchronization and customization without altering the core hardware.
SEQTRAK is a portable hardware groovebox featuring AWM2 and FM synthesis engines, over 2,000 preset sounds, a built-in sampler with microphone input, and a 7-track sequencer supporting up to 128 steps per track for composing complete arrangements. It includes reverb, delay, modulation, and master effects, along with a built-in speaker for instant playback. Designed for standalone operation, its compact form and rechargeable battery make it ideal for mobile creators, while USB-C connectivity enables it to serve as a MIDI controller or sound module. The dedicated SEQTRAK app, compatible with iPhone and iPad, offers visual editing of sequences, parameters, and effects, plus project management and interactive tutorials. This app also includes a visualizer for generating animated content suitable for social media sharing, extending the hardware’s utility beyond traditional production.
As a great companion to iPhone and iPad for mobile music making, SEQTRAK bridges tactile hardware control with iOS software ecosystems, sending MIDI data to apps like GarageBand or Cubasis for advanced sequencing or receiving audio for processing through its effects. Bluetooth connectivity allows wireless pairing, eliminating cables during sessions, while the app handles firmware updates directly from the device. This setup transforms iPhone or iPad into a central hub, where SEQTRAK provides physical knobs and buttons for intuitive sound manipulation, complementing touchscreen interfaces. Ideal for electronic music producers, it supports quick idea capture and refinement on the move, making it a versatile addition to any iOS-based workflow.
