Druw Drum Generator is a rhythm instrument plugin from Beatsurfing focused on expressive, real-time performance rather than step sequencing or grid-based programming. It operates inside a DAW on macOS or Windows as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin, featuring customizable drum kit layouts, a built-in sample library alongside support for user-loaded samples, and a “Generate” function that creates new playable layouts and sound combinations. The plugin includes quantize options (tight, groove-based with swing, or none for human feel), high-resolution timing for fast percussion, and direct recording of performances into the DAW timeline for later editing.
A key aspect is the integration with a companion mobile app (available for iOS and Android), which connects via Wi-Fi or USB to serve as a touch surface. This turns an iPhone or iPad into a gesture-controlled extension of the plugin, enabling hands-on playing of drum elements with natural movements instead of traditional controllers. The layout mirrors the plugin instantly on the device, supporting studio writing sessions or live performances where tactile interaction enhances creativity and timing focus.
Druw is now open for preorder at an introductory rate of 38 EUR, with the full price set at 179 EUR upon release.
