The OXI E16 is a newly released MIDI controller from OXI Instruments, built around 16 high-resolution endless encoders with integrated push functionality and LED rings. At the core of the controller’s design is a scene-based architecture, allowing users to create and recall completely different control layouts instantly, making it well suited for both live performance and complex studio workflows.
Each scene can contain multiple pages of controls, enabling up to 192 assignable parameters per scene. Parameters can be grouped, scaled, and assigned custom ranges, while the onboard OLED display provides clear visual feedback for every control. One of the standout features is parameter morphing, which allows users to smoothly transition between saved snapshots of control states — ideal for evolving sound changes, performance builds, and expressive automation without abrupt jumps.
For iOS music making, the OXI E16 integrates seamlessly via USB-C or Bluetooth MIDI, making it compatible with iPad and iPhone setups without additional interfaces. It excels as a hands-on controller for AUv3 instruments, effects, mixers, and modular routing apps such as AUM, Loopy Pro, or iOS DAWs, offering a level of tactile precision that goes beyond typical compact MIDI controllers. Its portability, wireless operation, and deep control logic make it a powerful centerpiece for modern iPad-based music rigs.
