While the core engine still delivers warm, analog-style tones and flexible sequencing, the interface remains one of the more polarizing aspects of the app. Its highly unique, artistic visual aesthetic prioritizes character over conventional layout clarity. This makes it difficult to quickly locate controls at a glance—especially for new users—and requires a noticeable learning curve before the workflow feels natural. Once you’ve spent time with it, the interface becomes familiar and efficient enough for live jamming or studio use, but the initial adaptation period can be frustrating compared to more conventional apps.
The sound engine itself is capable and creative: four independent voices with dual oscillators, noise, resonant filter, and dual envelopes allow for rich, evolving percussive textures. The sequencer supports per-step pitch/velocity editing, odd time divisions, note overlap, and re-trigger, making it suitable for both tight grooves and experimental rhythms. It integrates well into iOS workflows via Ableton Link, MIDI clock, microphone sampling, and WAV export, and the dual AUv3 design lets you use the synth and sequencer independently in hosts like AUM or GarageBand. The app is not perfect for fast, glance-and-go operation, but it rewards patience with a distinctive sound palette and flexible pattern creation.
