TubeSound by Bartosz Paprzycki

TubeSound is not your typical tube distortion plugin. Many of its presets stay below 0.5% THD, delivering subtle, musical warmth rather than heavy saturation. Each of the 23 circuits is modeled after legendary hi-fi and guitar amps from the 1950s to today, recreating triode curves, power supply sag, transformer behavior, and natural analog drift. You can also age the tubes through three stages (New, Worn, Old) that progressively add noise, drift, and reduced gain for authentic character over time. It works as an AUv3 effect in GarageBand, AUM, Cubasis, or any host, and runs on both iPhone and iPad.

Early feedback is very positive — people love how musical and transparent the low-THD settings sound on hi-fi material, though some note higher CPU usage on older iPads when stacking multiple instances. The free version gives you all 23 circuits with only a short periodic mute (3 seconds every 30 seconds), and a single $4.99 IAP removes the limitation forever.

In iPad music production, TubeSound is a fantastic way to add authentic tube warmth to drums, vocals, synths, or entire mixes. Pair it with your favorite DAW and you instantly get that classic analog glue and richness that digital plugins often miss. It’s especially strong on bass and guitars, but the subtler presets work beautifully on full mixes too.
