This update primarily addresses minor issues to enhance overall stability, with no major new features announced in the release notes. It follows the November 2025 update that introduced a refreshed app icon aligned with iOS 26’s Liquid Glass design language, featuring a realistic guitar visual. The changes help maintain smooth operation when recording multi-track projects, using Touch Instruments, or working with Live Loops.

GarageBand provides an intuitive interface for playing virtual instruments like keyboards, guitars, and drums using Multi-Touch gestures, alongside features such as the Beat Sequencer and virtual Drummers for acoustic or electronic rhythms. Users can record up to 32 tracks at 24-bit audio resolution, apply effects including EQ, reverb, and amp simulations, and expand their palette with free downloadable sound packs from the Sound Library. It excels in iPad music production, integrating with MIDI iPad setups for external controllers and serving as an AUv3 host in other iOS DAWs.

The app supports Live Loops for DJ-style remixing, allowing real-time triggering of cells to build arrangements effortlessly. For beginners, Smart Instruments simplify chord progressions and melodies, while advanced users benefit from Multi-Take Recording and automation tools. GarageBand also facilitates easy sharing via iCloud, AirDrop, or export to ringtone format, making it ideal for how to make music on iPad workflows from sketching ideas to final mixes.

GarageBand includes a vast Sound Library with free additional packs for instruments, loops, and drummers, plus Smart Instruments that simplify chord progressions and scales for beginners. It supports up to 32 tracks at 24-bit resolution, external MIDI controllers via Bluetooth or USB, and acts as an AUv3 host for third-party plugins. GarageBand runs as a standalone app on both iPhone and iPad, delivering low-latency performance suitable for sketching beats, melodies, or full song ideas on the go.
