Aqeel Aadam Sound released v1.1 of Waymaker, their modular MIDI sequencer. The headline addition is a brand-new Arpeggiator module with fully custom note orders that adapt dynamically to chord progressions — simple triads through complex 13th chords while keeping your custom sequence pattern intact. A dedicated Control sequencer follows, adding full CC and PC message support with integrated glide and random offsets for animating filter sweeps and parameter shifts on external hardware or internal synths. The scale system has also been overhauled with Multi-scale support, letting Waymaker cycle through up to four different scales or follow external MIDI input for custom harmonic structures.
What’s new in v1.1:
- Arpeggiator Module: Custom arpeggio patterns that respond dynamically to incoming MIDI chords
- CC Control Sequencer: CC and PC messages with random offsets and glide for external parameter animation
- Revamped Step Sequencer: New playback directions (forward, reverse, random, repeat), stride lengths, and stage skipping
- Multi-Scale Support: Sequence between four different scales automatically or follow external MIDI
- Chain Editing Menu: Centralized interface to mute, delete, and rearrange the MIDI module chain
- Velocity & Pitch Utilities: New modules for adding movement and animation to existing sequences
Waymaker operates as a collection of modular sequencing blocks you chain together to create complex generative melodies. Each module either generates new notes or modifies incoming data — Step feeds into Probability for rhythmic variety, Chord utilities build harmonies that follow your scale, and the result routes to any connected instrument. In AUM, Waymaker drives multiple instruments simultaneously as an AUv3 MIDI effect, with different modules targeting different synths in the same session. In Logic Pro for iPad, it sits on a MIDI track and generates material that records directly into the project. A built-in sound engine means you can sketch ideas without a secondary synth app. AAS Mode provides specialized integration with other Aqeel Aadam Sound products — Weeping Wall and Ridgewalk — for a tighter connected workflow within that ecosystem.
Version 1.1 also adds auto-assignment for note lengths and velocities and visual alignment tools for lining up sequencer stages with precision. MIDI export renders generative performances as standard .mid files for use in any DAW. The app runs on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon Macs as both standalone and AUv3.
Core features:
- 14 modular utilities: Step, Morph, Weight, Sum, Brownian, Arpeggiator, Probability, and more
- AAS Mode for integrated control of Weeping Wall and Ridgewalk
- Generative logic with high-level randomness for Chord and Weight modules
- MIDI export to standard .mid files
- Standalone and AUv3 on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon Macs
App price: $14.99.
No in-app purchases.
