Aqeel Aadam Sound, in collaboration with BlankFor.ms, released Outgrowth, a sample-based virtual instrument for iOS, macOS, and Windows. It features five unique engines: Granular for time-stretching and textural effects, Loop for rhythmic repetitions with speed and direction controls, Wavetable for scanning through samples as waveforms, Stutter for glitchy repeats, and Wobble for tape-like speed variations. The app supports MPE compatibility, over 50 presets, and more than 100 built-in samples, with options for importing audio in formats like WAV, AIFF, FLAC, OGG, and MP3. It includes performance-oriented controls such as keyboard mapping, modulation sources, and envelope shaping for expressive play.
Outgrowth runs as a standalone app and AUv3 plugin on iOS (iPhone and iPad), with VST3, AU, and AAX formats for desktop. It emphasizes low CPU usage for mobile devices and integrates into production workflows for electronic, ambient, and experimental sound design. The app provides preset management, randomization tools, and a resizable interface for detailed editing.
