BLEASS’s Shimmer implements a three-path processing structure where the input signal splits into dry, pitch-shifted, and reverberated streams that can be mixed independently. This architecture enables configurations where the pitch-shifted signal feeds into the reverb, the reverb feeds into the pitch shifter, or both operate in parallel, each producing distinctly different shimmer characteristics. The pitch shifter offers intervals from one semitone to two octaves in both directions, with adjustable regeneration for cascading effects.
The plugin runs on iPhone and iPad as an AUv3 with standalone support, maintaining the polished interface design characteristic of BLEASS products. Within hosts like GarageBand or AUM, users can automate the pitch interval and regeneration to create evolving harmonic structures. The built-in filter section allows frequency-specific shimmer application, preventing excessive brightness in the effect tail.
Parallel architecture, while flexible, can be confusing for users expecting traditional series processing. Regeneration parameter can quickly lead to runaway feedback if not carefully controlled, requiring attentive monitoring during performance.
